Physiology

The Department of Physiology is located on the Ground Floor of the Academic Block, between the Anatomy and Biochemistry departments. It has qualified teachers and modern equipment such as Power Lab, audiometers, spirometers, and ECG machines. The Power Lab supports research and helps conduct tests like EEG, EMG, and nerve studies.

Physiology is the study of how the human body works and is a fundamental subject in medicine. It is closely connected to Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and Pathology.

The department includes a laboratory, a demonstration hall, two self-study rooms, a separate lecture hall for BDS students, a library, and offices. Facilities such as washrooms, a daycare, and a kitchen are available for staff and students.

The course follows the modular system approved by the Pakistan Medical Commission and Khyber Medical University. Teaching methods include interactive classes, group discussions, seminars, assignments, practical laboratory work, and self-study.

Students are assessed through module exams, block exams, and a final university examination. Internal assessment contributes 20% of the final marks and includes exam performance, attendance, and behavior, while the final university examination accounts for 80% of the total marks.
