Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) is one of the leading public sector medical institutions in Pakistan. Established in 2010, the college achieved the distinction of being recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) within its first year of inception—reflecting its commitment to excellence in medical education and standards.

Located in Mardan—often referred to as the “land of hospitality”—the college benefits from its position in the second-largest city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Situated at an altitude of 283 meters (937 feet), Mardan offers excellent accessibility via the national highway, just 15 km from Nowshera and 2 km from the Rashakai Motorway Interchange. The city is well connected to nearby districts including Charsadda, Swabi, Buner, Malakand, Swat, and Dir.

Mardan holds a rich historical legacy as part of the ancient Gandhara Civilization. Renowned archaeological sites such as Takht-i-Bahi and Shahbaz Garhi reflect the region’s cultural and historical significance.

Today, Mardan is a thriving industrial and agricultural district and is rapidly emerging as an educational hub. It is home to prestigious institutions such as Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, BKMC, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan Campus, and the University of Agriculture Mardan Campus.

The college was inaugurated on January 1, 2010, in the well-planned locality of Sheikh Maltoon Town, Mardan. It is named after the renowned freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as Bacha Khan, in honor of his legacy of service and leadership.

The current campus of BKMC is housed within a restructured section of the Mardan Medical Complex, which spans over 500 kanals of land and serves as the primary teaching hospital. The institution is fully equipped to support undergraduate medical and dental programs (MBBS & BDS), offering modern academic and clinical facilities.

The Academic Block features fully equipped, air-conditioned lecture theatres, a well-stocked library, a Student Learning Resource Center (SLRC), and dedicated faculty and departmental offices—providing an ideal environment for learning, research, and professional development.
